Navigating Pet Loss with Compassion
– Quiet support, gentle community, and personalised grief guidance
Saying goodbye can be one of the hardest things we ever do.
The space they leave behind isn’t just in the room, it’s in the routine, the moments we shared with them and the pieces of our hearts they filled so completely.
I fully understand and respect that grief is deeply personal. There’s no right way to feel, and no timeline to follow.
At Oliver’s Highland Pet Crematorium, I want to make sure that however you’re feeling, whether that’s quietly coping or feeling completely lost, you’re supported in a way that feels right for you.
To support you, I offer three gentle pathways:
Quiet Support, Always
Even if you don’t feel the need for any formal support, please know this: I’ll always speak with compassion and kindness. Sometimes, just being met by someone who understands is enough.
I am currently studying towards gaining a Diploma in Bereavement Counselling, and while not everyone will want or need extra help, I hope it offers some reassurance to know that when we speak, you’ll be met with understanding, kindness, and sensitivity. I have also successfully completed training with the Blue Cross in an Introduction to Pet Loss Support Skills.
A Gentle Community Space
For those who would like a little more connection, I will also be offering a private, closed Facebook group where families can share memories, tributes, and photos of their pets. It’s a small and gentle community for those who understand what it’s like to say goodbye. Sometimes, just knowing you’re not alone can bring comfort. You’re welcome to join or leave at any time, there’s no pressure, just presence.

Pet Funerals
For many of us, our pets are true members of the family. When they die, the sadness can feel just as deep as when we lose a loved one. Sometimes, having a gentle funeral or celebration of life can help us express those feelings, say a final goodbye, and begin to adjust.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Julie Snowdon of Cedar Tree Ceremonies. Julie is an accredited funeral celebrant for people, and she also offers beautiful, thoughtful funerals for pets. She can help you and your family create a simple but meaningful service to remember your pet – whether that’s at home, in a favourite spot, or in a peaceful setting.
If you feel this might be right for you, you can find out more about Julie’s work on her website https://cedartreeceremonies.co.uk/pet-funerals
In addition, if you are struggling with grief, Julie can provide initial bereavement support and, where needed, gently signpost you to further counselling or specialist organisations.
